Here’s some of the links we have loved from past months:

 

Author Mentor Match – an organization that pairs un-agented, aspiring writers with mentors to guide them through the publishing process. Specializes in young adult, middle grade and “select adult genres.”

Austin Kleon  describes himself as “a writer who draws, who makes art with words and books with pictures.” Kleon is the bestselling author of Steal Like an Artist and other motivational guides to staying creative.

Lynn Slaughter – Author Lynn Slaughter is addicted to reading and writing young adult novels – as well as chocolate, romance, and her husband’s cooking. Lynn shared her path on becoming a writer with our group in June 2021, along with a reading of her new book, Leisha’s Song.

The next theme for the literary blog, HerStry is “First Dates,” due July 31. The blog accepts creative nonfiction on any theme year-round. They also provide affordable editing services and critique workshops.

Yellow Arrow Publishing: Submissions for creative nonfiction and poetry are open September 1. Theme to be announced in August.

For Women Who Roar: This platform is looking for poetry and stories of healing, writing and recovery.

Check out The Manifest Station: On Being Human literary blog. Submit poetry, essay, fiction, art, and photography. Submissions are open continuously.

A fabulous resource for reading is Lit Hub.

Here is an excellent website by the Council of Literary Presses and Magazines (CLMP) that posts an ongoing list of magazines/journals, allowing the writer to filter by genre.

Check out “The Best Writing Contests of 2021,” published by the Reedsy blog. Reedsy is a company that educates, guides, connects, and promotes indie authors. Read about the contests here.
