Join us for our monthly meeting—beginning 6:30 PM and ending at 8:00 PM. We meet in-person at a Louisville Free Public Library. More information is sent in the monthly newsletter. We enjoy lively conversation about the writing life, including peer critiques of short manuscripts—poetry or prose. The strength-based peer critiques affirm each woman’s unique writing style while providing helpful revision suggestions.
On May 14, we’re back at the St. Matthews library branch with a special fiction workshop: Making Magic with Your Words: Writing Lyrical Prose. So often as writers, we struggle to make our prose come to life and sound magical on the page. Come join Angela Jackson-Brown as she guides you through techniques to write evocative prose, showing you how to view every sentence as a story, in and of itself.
Persons interested in receiving peer critiques please bring 7 printed copies of the manuscript you want us to critique. No more than 1300 words for prose or two pages of poems. If the prose piece you’d like for a critique is longer than 1300 words, please bring an excerpt.
Non-members are welcome to attend two meetings before membership.
